December 1st marks World AIDS Day, a global event aimed at raising awareness about AIDS and the importance of protecting human rights in the fight against the disease. Young Positive People of Pakistan is proud to participate in the UNAIDS global report launch,

Take the Rights Path, highlighting the crucial role of human rights in ending AIDS.The State of AIDS in Pakistan has made significant progress in controlling the HIV/AIDS epidemic, but challenges persist. According to UNAIDS, Pakistan has approximately 190,000 people living with HIV, with a prevalence rate of 0.1% among adults. While these numbers are concerning, it’s essential to recognize the efforts made by the government, civil society, and organizations like Young Positive People of Pakistan.The Importance of Human Rights .The “Take the Rights Path” report emphasizes the critical link between human rights and the response to AIDS. Protecting human rights is essential to:

1 Prevent new infections.By ensuring access to comprehensive education, condoms, and harm reduction services.

2 Improve treatment and care.By guaranteeing equal access to antiretroviral therapy (ART), healthcare services, and social support.

3 Reduce stigma and discrimination. By promoting a supportive environment, addressing discriminatory laws and policies, and fostering inclusivity.
